PCOD ( Polycystic Ovary Disease) and PCOS (Polycystic ovarian Syndrome) both are the different probleme occurs due to Hormonal imbalance and abnormal function of endocrine system.
In India 10-20% women suffering from this problems (age group 12-45 years).
Allopathy says that the causes of this problems are unknown, and suggests the hormonal birth control, antiandrogens and fertility medicines, But still the problem is remains, but don't worry, that is when Ayurveda comes to rescue!
HOW IT OCCURS ?
pituitary gland (situated at the base of brain) secretes the FSH (Follicle stimulating Hormone) and LH (Luteinizing Hormone) every month.
Which leads to maturation of immature eggs and ovulation of most matured egg at the phase of LH surge (Remaining eggs are dissolves in ovary. This one is the physiological condition.
But when imbalance occurs in the hormonal functions or endocrine system, pituitary gland secretes the abnormal high amount of LH which disturbes the menstrual cycle.
Eggs can not be matured and ovulation can not occurs, then all immature eggs will become cysts. That is why it's called poly cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) .
Increased LH reacts with insulin hormone which increases the testosterone which leads to hair growth on face & upper lip in female.
Ayurvedic perspective of PCOD/PCOS
According to Ayurveda this problem is occurs when vata Or kaphan dosha is imbalanced in the pelvic region. [Mainly Apān vayu plays a major role, but strotsavrodha ( blockage due to cyst) is due to kapha dosha].
Cure it by these simple steps, No medication required...
If you are taking any medicine for it ( like YASMINE, DIANE, METMORPHINME or any other Antiendrogenic or contraceptive drug) then throw out it. Because it's just a waste of time and money even your health. So do not take any medicine because According to Ayurveda your food is your medicine for balancing the hormones.
First thing is you need to stop packaged and Processed food for a while and switch to home made healthy food.Just practice Healthy plate method.
your plate must have a 1/2 portion of fresh vegetables, 1/4 portion of protein rich food, and remaining 1/4 part of complex carbohydrate. Make sure to add 1 teaspoon of Cow ghee in your diet. Because it is highly recommend to have a cow ghee in empty stomach, in Ayurveda.
Seasonal fruits, paneer,sprouts,fermented foods like Idli Or dosa, fresh curd etc..its a beneficial for ovary and also it supplies the B12.
Exercise :-
exercise is non-negotiable factor.
If you cannot spend a minimum 20 minutes for exercise then I'm sorry to say that you are not serious about curing your problem.
Do exercise daily for stronger pelvic region.
If you are suffering from pain of uterus due to some other reason (Like PMO) then do not exercise at that time, but don't ignore yoga.
Daily yoga practice is the best exercise also for a healthy person.
For PCOD/PCOS I suggests some best yoga or aasanas.Exercise is the big necessity during PCOD/PCOS for the weight loss. So do not ignore it.
Nadi shodhana pranayama
Bhramari pranayama
Baddhakonasana (butterfly pose)
Supt badhhakonasana
Ustrasana etc..
And must do these exercise along with yoga:-
Daily routine :-
your life style is an also important factor for hormonal imbalance.
First thing is do not take stress because stress leads to many serious problems. and second thing is take a enough and Blissful sleep.
Drink a warm milk before going to sleep.
according to Ayurveda stress is increased rajsikguna which is not a normal condition and a healthy person requires minimum 8 hours sleep from 24 and the best time is 10pm to 6am because it is the best time for action of endocrine system.
put a one glass of water in front of the moonlight tonight and drink it in early in the morning. It's a golden water for balancing the hormon.
Even it is resemble with hansodaka mentioned in Ayurvedic text.
then do a massage of Sesame oil either on all over body if possible or only on pelvic region.
Because according to Ayurveda it's a disease of imbalance of apan vayu so oil massage is the best treatment of balance vat dosha.
do not use plastic in daily life. take your lunch or dinner in metal plate and don't use the nonstick pane for cooking replace it with copper or other metals.
when plastic comes in the contact of food, it leaches the chemicals like xenoestrogen into it.
Which is similar to the hormone estrogen produced by the human body and it completely messes up the hormonal balance of the body.
Connection with the moon :-
Try to spend minimum 15-20 minutes in presence of moonlight Daily.
women's body has a very strong connection with the moon.
The 28 revolution cycle of moon and 28 days menstrual cycle of women is not nearly the coincidence.
Did you know that as a woman you can balance your hormone just by seating in the moon light. No, it isn't any superstition. According to ancient science many herbs should charged under moon light so that it can be more effective.
If you are suffering from PCOD/PCOS I would highly recommend you to be in the presence of moon for at least 15 minutes before going to sleep at night
the more moon light you will absorb the better your hormone will function.
Celebration of the festivals in India like beej, sharad punama, bakri eid, karwa chauth and many other moon related festivals are not any superstition.
There are different types of medicines for PCOS/PCOD.
But try to cure it at home by changing your lifestyle and exercise.If you can do it then medication is not necessary as I'm sure that you can cure it without medication.
