Is ayurvedic medicine safe?
Most people think that since, Ayurveda uses natural herbs & remedies to cure an ailment, it is harmless.
So they go about self-administering and self-treating via over the counter Ayurvedic medicines.
However, experts strictly advise against this practice.
All types of medication, Ayurvedic or not, have their side effects if the dosage is incorrect and taken without proper consultation & using a variety of herbal remedies without checking it with the doctor first could have serious repercussions.
For ayurvedic medicine prescriptions to work, the following four factors, which are also the four pillars ( pāda chatusht) of the practice, need to be taken into consideration.
They are :-
- doctor ( bhishak)
- patient (Rogi)
- caretaker (Upasthata)
- medicine. (Dravya)
So self- medication is dangerous in Ayurveda just like any other conventional medical practice.
There’s a lot of misinformation surrounding Ayurveda, a lot of which people tend to deem true.
Always do your due diligence and try to look beyond what you know or hear around you.
Ayurveda has a host of benefits (which have been widely documented), and in the hands of an expert practitioner, it can bring health, wellbeing, and happiness into your life.
So, Ayurvedic medicine may also harmful if dosage is not proper or having medicine without proper diagnosis or checkup ( Rogi parikshan ).
Because Ayurveda recommends medicines according to desha, kāla, prakriti etc..
So, medicines for same disease can be different from person to person.
So, Stay away from the myths and know the truth about it with AYURRAJ.
